Tile Grout and Adhesive Products – Mcon Rasayan

Tile grout is used to seal the joints between individual tiles and prevents moisture and other debris from infiltrating and degrading the tile, and creating sags. MconRasayan offers numerous wall and floor tile grout options for your home renovation projects that will ensure you get the perfect protection and support your tiling needs.

 Types of Tile Grout

Here at Mcon Rasayan you will be able to find tile adhesive solutions in several different forms. Each form of grout is suited to different tasks, so please consult the following descriptions to better determine which is right for your projects.

 Sanded Grout

Sanded grout is most commonly used for ceramic and stone tile. It is a mixture of sand, Portland cement, and additives that vary by brand. Once mixed with water and trawled into the joint of a tile, sanded grout can become as hard as concrete. However, it will soak up water easily unless it is sealed. Additionally, sanded grout will scratch polished marble and should not be used with marble tiles.

 Unsanded Grout

Sometimes called “wall grout”, unsanded grout is best used on ceramic tile or polished marble (since it has no sand) with joints smaller than 1/8 inch. As the nickname implies, it also works as an effective wall tile grout. Since the only significant difference between sanded and unsanded grout is, well, sand, the unsanded variety has the same need for sealant as the normal type. There are, however, latex additives that can be mixed in to reduce the need for sealant if you desire.

 Epoxy Grout

Epoxy comes in two parts. The first is the epoxy resin and the second is the hardener. The idea is that you keep the two separate until you are ready to begin grouting, then mix them together immediately before it is applied. Epoxy grouts are resistant to stains, mildew, and are less absorbent, which makes them valuable for tiling projects like kitchen countertops. Epoxy is, however, not the easiest form of grout to install and can get messy very quickly for the inexperienced.

MconRasayan’s  grout options come in caulk, formulated bags, and jars, and also offer additive options for additional customizability. A selection of our grouts and caulks can be found here.

Tile Adhesives Available at Mcon Rasayan

Whereas grout is used to fill in the joints between tiles, adhesives are used to actually secure tile to a given substrate. Mcon Rasayan has numerous types of tile adhesive available, all of which tend to fall within one of two types.

Pre-Mixed Tile Adhesives

Pre-mixed adhesives are the best option for wall tiles since they work as soon as the tile makes contact. This lets you stack and lay your tiles without worrying about them falling out of place. Most pre-mixed adhesives are made of mastics, a type of glue, which are useful in most situations. The exception is that mastic-based adhesives should not be used outside or in areas with frequent heat exposure. While mastic can handle indirect exposure, it does not hold well in cases of regular, direct moisture, like in or near a shower.

 Thinset Mortar

Thinset mortar is best used for flooring tiles or when trying to install tile in situations where pre-mixed adhesive would be inadvisable. The bond between the adhesive and the tile is also more flexible and better at supporting weight. The flip side is that thin set mortar doesn’t come pre-mixed so it requires a bit of extra elbow grease to use.
